The design trend for 2020 is primarily focused on the personalization of spaces rather than following the mainstream.  There is diversity and unlimited choice, thanks to the internet, that gives you license to create a uniquely individual place to call home.  You can access everything from bespoke furniture to customised rugs, paint finishes and wall coverings and combine all the features that you love together with a few basic design guidelines like scale, colour and usability.

Personalise your room with a combination of colours and textures and pieces that say something about your lifestyle your passions and your history.

It could be a Turkish inspired seating area with vivid red textured wall and rug setting off the lilac ottomans and brass table. The result is an inviting space to sit and perhaps indulge in some delicious sweet coffee and baklava.

Your dining room could have your ‘signature’ by combining an eclectic mix of chairs around a modern blond wood table. Add a striking rug and some greenery in pots and this area makes a statement about how you like to entertain and enjoy your dining space as part of your kitchen.

The living room can benefit from a round rug in an otherwise square space. Add the soft lines of scooped occasional chairs and pale pistachio wall colour and the area is both restful and pleasing on the eye.

Daunted? The right designer can help you hone your ideas into a scheme that is achievable. Instead of ‘imposing’ their own style, if they’re good at their job, they will offer encouragement and advice, as well as providing contacts and product sourcing where necessary.
